Olika sorters cha cha Liksom de flesta andra danser finns även cha cha i flera varianter, även om skillnaden är mindre än för t.ex. tango och vals. Den cha cha vi dansar är den internationella som även används som tävlingsdans och den har även en amerikansk variant som är mycket lik. Det finns också en kubansk cha cha som är mer lik salsa och som brukar dansas på salsaklubbar.	Different kinds of Cha cha Like most other dances also Cha cha exist in several variants, although the difference is less than for example Tango and Waltz. The Cha cha we dance here is the international which is also used as a competition dance, and there is an American version which is very similar. There is also a Cuban Cha cha, which is more like Salsa, and which is usually danced on Salsa clubs.
Cha cha:ns historia Cha cha kommer från Kuba liksom flera andra danser, t.ex. mambo, rumba och salsa, och anses ha uppstått som ett steg i antingen den snabbare mambon eller den långsammare rumban. Den utvecklades sedan till en egen dans. Till Europa kom dansen med dansläraren Pierre Zurcher-Margolle, känd som Monsieur Pierre, som besökte Kuba 1952 för att ta reda på vad kubanerna dansade. Han tog med sig den nya dansen till England och skapade det som i dag är känt som ballroom cha cha, eller internationell cha cha. Denna form spred sig snabbt också till USA där en amerikansk variant utvecklades. Namnet sägs komma från ljudet när man dansar chassésteget och drar fötterna över golvet och är egentligen cha-cha-cha, men kortas oftast ned till cha cha. Ibland markeras chassésteget i musiken, men inte alltid och dansen är därmed en av de få som inte motsvaras av en speciell typ av musik. Det korrekta tempot för cha cha som tävlingsdans ligger på ca 30 bpm.	The History of the Cha cha Cha cha is orginially from Cuba like several other dances, such as Mambo, Rumba and Salsa, and is considered to have arisen as a step in either the quicker Mambo or the slower Rumba. It developed later into its own dance. The dance came to Europe with the dance teacher Pierre Zurcher-Margolle, known as Monsieur Pierre, who visited Cuba in 1952 in order to find out what the Cubans were dancing. He brought the new dance to England and created what today is known as the ballroom Cha cha, or international Cha cha. This version also spread rapidly to the United States where an American version evolved. The name is said to have come from the sound when you dance the chassé step and drag your feet across the floor and is orginially a cha-cha-cha, but usually shortened to Cha cha. Sometimes the chassé step is marked in the music, but not always, and the dance is thus one of the few that do not correspond to a particular type of music. The correct tempo for Cha cha dance in competitions is about 30 bpm.
Karaktären i cha cha Dansen är snabb och flörtig med snabba rörelser och som i alla latindanser mycket höftrörelser. Det finns ett tydligt stacchato med skarpa växlingar mellan snabba och långamma steg.	The Character in Cha cha The dance is fast and flirty with quick movements and as in all Latin dances with a lot of hip movements. There is a clear stacchato with sharp changes between quick and slow step.
